Apple Mac Attacks ‘Trivial’, Claims Security Researcher

Apple Mac attacks 'trivial', claims security researcher

Creating malicious software that can attack Apple Mac computers is “trivial”, a leading security researcher has claimed.

Patrick Wardle, from security firm synack, demonstrated several new types of malicious programs that can bypass apple security. He said that these malicious threats are known to Apple, but the company has not commented on synack research. Apple’s popularity is attracting attention from cyber criminals, he added.

He was speaking at Black Hat 2015, an annual gathering of hackers and security professionals held in Las Vegas. Antivirus firm, Kaspersky Lab records a sudden surge in the past couple of years. iWorm and WireLurker were some dangerous malware that attacks Mac OS X.

Patrick Wardle also said, that Apple has fixed some of the issues, but some fixes/patches are insufficient. He can still bypass the security measures easily.

It is his love for Apple and its product that motivate him to work. He always share his research with Apple, and disclose the details once the issue was fixed or patched permanently.
